The joining of words to form a new word is not new. In French poststructuralism, the practice is known as "bricolage" (tinkering) with Jacques Derrida's neologism, 'différance', which is construed with 'différence', différer', and 'différant' as most notable example.

Still, the permeation of Apropos with the idea of appropriation has not lead to the formation of the ugly "Appropos". Apropos does not pretend to be resistant to deconstruction. But in order to accentuate that Apropos not only involves the good and the fitting, but also the opposites of those--the high handedness, the immoral, the forbidden--it needs to hide the germ that it carries with it as much as possible.

It is not difficult to see the multiplicity that is inherent in 'différance'. But that also makes it a damaged word, the clear result of an intervention.

Apropos only shows its happy face, its good face, while going about its noxious and curative work. Apropos--the immaculate contamination.
