Why "Apropos"? Here is a series of short essays on the word that provided the inspiration for our translation services.

Since this French word was originally introduced, new meanings have poured out upon this word, and its applications have become innumerable. One of these is the connection with the word appropriate. Although it has a different root word, it always resonates with Apropos, both with regard to sound (the extra p is silent) and semantics.

The connection between the two words immediately serves as an example of what is going on here. Apropos has actively appropriated the word appropriate because this seems apropos ("fitting"). However, this does not mean that Apropos enters into random connections. All contacts always go through the subject ("I"), which acts as the deciding function on the nature and the significance of said connections. Therefore, "I" and "Apropos" are not interchangeable.
